Yes, You Can Change the World

I went to a lecture today. It was with a man called Aman Motwane. His recent book was Yes, You Can Change the World. He talked about many things that were inspiring but the one thing that sticks with me is how he kept saying to look for the blessings in the painful experience in your past and what you have done because of them. I have heard the expression before "to look for the good and praise it", I have heard people say to work on forgiveness of others but never to look at the experience and see the blessings. For example: I have moved alot as a child and I was painfully shy, so I had a hard time getting adjusted when we moved. Fast forward the last four years, I have been working in the school system and when new kids would come in I would introduce them to other kids, say a couple of words throughout the day to let them know that someone noticed them. I let them know that they mattered. It was a simple thing but if and when it happened to me when I was a child it made all the difference in my world.
